Morgan Roof is from Lexington, Kentucky, and was raised by her mother and stepfather. In an interview with ABC News, Roof’s mother said she doesn’t believe her daughter is capable of committing such a heinous crime. “I just don’t believe that my baby would do anything like that,” she said.
